Pai Gow Poker is a current game with old origins. Founded on the old Chinese domino game and the current American adaptation of poker, Pai Gow poker bands together the east with the western in a wonderful game for new players.

Pai Gow is a poker game that pits the player against the casino, unlike almost all other poker games that players compete with other gamblers. By competing against the dealer, beginner players don’t have to be concerned about any other, more knowledgeable people winning their mulla.

Another Pai Gow edge is the relatively slow game play, rookies are able to take their time and scheme while not having to make frenzied choices.

Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card basic deck and a single joker. The player is dealt 7 cards face up and the croupier receives seven cards faces hidden.

One 5 card hand and one two card hand have to be made from the seven cards dealt, the five card hand has to be stronger than the two card hand. To succeed, a player needs both of his hand totals to be larger than the dealer’s.
