Internet Big Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

by Emelia on November 2nd, 2025

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players around the world. While playing net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then goes all in. I know Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the everyday players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the min buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the skill out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy-in for the full amt.. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players anywhere in the world may be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in big stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
