Online High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Emelia on April 10th, 2025

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only gambler to make it to the closing poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is thought to be one of the best players in the world. While playing internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a decent hand and then goes all in. I know Gus is an excellent poker player but certainly not even close to the everyday players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is penniless, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the min buy-in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I think tv can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found competing in internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
