No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
