Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Emelia on October 18th, 2022

Gus Hansen enjoyed a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a big pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best players anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He often participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Hansen generally buys in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to sit at the table with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amount. I think tv can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world could be players you have won’t have heard about. Gus can be found competing in net poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha/8 and hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
