Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.

He began playing seriously after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil says that he is learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making mistakes in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Phil has won some large tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a regular basis.
