No-Limit Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker player on the planet by most of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he possibly could about poker. Phil would tell his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win wasn’t a normal thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. He knows he makes mistakes in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
