Before you Tilt

Ah, the tilt. If a poker player states never to have peered down the shadow of an upcoming poker tilt – they’re either telling a lie or they haven’t been competing very long. This does not mean obviously that everyone has been on steam in the past, a number of people have wonderful willpower and carry their losses as a defeat and leave it at that. To be a great poker gambler, it’s especially important to appraise your wins and your defeats in a similar way – with little emotion. You compete in the match in the same manner you did following a tough beat like you would after winning a great hand. Most of the poker pros are not charmed by tilting after an awful beat as they are incredibly seasoned and you should be to.

You have to be aware that you will not win every hand you are in, even if you are strongly favored. Hands that commonly cause players to go on tilt are hands you were the favorite or at least believed you were up until you were side swiped and you burned a large chunk of your stack. Awful beats are bound to happen. Embrace that reality right now, I will say it once more – if your brother enjoys cards, if your father plays cards, if your grandparents enjoy cards – We all have bad defeats at some point. You have burned $80 in a round where you were certain to pick up $200two hundred dollars when you decided to go all-in on the flop and had a ten to one edge. And that fiend! He banged you out on the river? – Well hold it right there. This is a quintessential choice for a fresh player to start tilting. They just blew too much money on one round that they should have won and they’re agitated
