Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Emelia on November 26th, 2015

Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the last table in three of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may remember one of the largest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. He won a huge pot with quads against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best gamblers around the world. While wagering on internet poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy-in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the minimum of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all-in. I know Hansen is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Buying in for the minimum takes a majority of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard of. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
