Internet Big Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

by Emelia on October 2nd, 2009

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only player to achieve closing game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen raked in a big pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While wagering on net poker, another side of Hansen has emerged. Gus often plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is a great poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the game with the minimum buy in.

Playing for the min takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be 1 of the best poker players in the world but he can’t buy in for the total amount. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world at times. The greatest poker players anywhere in the world may be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes Omaha and texas holdem. Gus has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money rounds?
